Hormone-Balancing Energy Bites
My husband and I don't always get all the nuts and seeds we want in a day, so I blend them into one little ball. No baking, one pan, one blender.

My husband and I don't always get the chance to add all these nuts and seeds to our daily meals. Some days there's simply no time, and some days I forget. So I thought, why not blend them all into one little ball we can grab?
These are super easy. There's no baking, no eggs and no grains, and one a day is a simple way to get a good mix of healthy fats and trace minerals into your day.
Why these seeds and nuts
Each one earns its place in the blend.

- Pumpkin seeds are a good source of zinc and magnesium.
- Sunflower seeds bring vitamin E and selenium.
- Black and white sesame seeds have calcium, iron and copper. Black sesame is also the one that gives the bites their deep color.
- Flax seeds are rich in omega-3 fats and lignans.
- Walnuts add more omega-3 and a soft, buttery texture.
To be clear, I'm not saying a single energy ball fixes your hormones. Nothing does that on its own. It's one small, steady habit that adds good fats and minerals to a day that might otherwise have none.
Why you blend them warm
The method matters more than the ingredient list here.
Roasting the seeds until they smell nutty wakes up their flavor. Then you blend them while they're still a little warm. The warmth and the friction of the blades help release the natural oils, so the dry seeds slowly turn into a thick, smooth paste without any added oil or butter.
This takes 4 to 5 minutes on low or pulse. It will look like crumbs for a long time and then suddenly come together, so don't give up early. If your machine gets hot, stop for a minute and let it rest.
Tips for the best bites
- Want them to hold their shape? You don't have to chill them, and you can roll and eat them straight away. A short rest in the fridge just firms them up.
- Too crumbly to roll? Blend a little longer, or add a teaspoon of tahini or coconut oil.
- Too sticky? Chill the mixture for a few minutes, or stir in a spoonful more desiccated coconut.
- Not sweet enough? Monk fruit is optional. Start with a spoonful, taste, and add more if you want.
- No white sesame seeds? Use tahini instead. It's just ground white sesame.
- A pinch of salt matters. It makes the nuts and seeds taste richer, and you'll notice if it's missing.
- Roast gently. Seeds go from golden to bitter quickly, so stay by the pan.
Storing them
Keep the bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. They also freeze well, so you can make a bigger batch and take one out as you need it.
A quick note
Nuts and seeds are high in fibre, so if your gut is inflamed or you're healing from a flare, they may not suit you right now. Go slowly and listen to your body. I'm not a doctor, and this isn't medical advice.
So, friend, which seed is your favorite in a mix like this? I'd love to know.

Seeds and nuts
Sweetener (optional)
To finish
Coating (optional)
Method
Roast
- Lightly roast all the nuts and seeds in a dry pan over medium heat, stirring often, until fragrant. Keep it moving so the sesame and flax don't scorch.
Blend while warm
- While the roasted ingredients are still slightly warm, tip them into a blender or food processor with your sweetener.
- Add a pinch of fine sea salt.
- Blend on low or pulse for 4 to 5 minutes. Be patient. The warmth and friction release the natural oils and turn the mixture into a smooth paste.
- Scrape down the sides now and then. If you're using tahini instead of white sesame seeds, stir it in at the end.
Add the coconut
- Stir in the desiccated coconut.
Roll
- Roll the mixture into bite-sized balls, about a tablespoon each. Roll them in a little extra coconut if you like.
- You can eat them straight away.
Chill (optional)
- For firmer bites that hold their shape better, chill the balls in the fridge for 15 to 20 minutes.
